Cyber Essentials Self-Assessment
DarkKnight offers the Cyber Essentials verified self-assessment, an online tool to evaluate and harmonise your organisation's cybersecurity stance with current baseline standards. This certification allows you to publicly display your compliance for one year, subject to annual renewal.
The self-assessment process provides an opportunity to review your network's security setup, potentially uncovering overlooked vulnerabilities and strengthening your systems. UK-based organisations with annual turnover under £20m automatically receive £25,000 in cyber insurance upon certifying their entire operation.
Our online portal facilitates independent assessment. Upon purchase, you'll receive access and preparation materials. Note that any required revisions post-submission must be addressed within two days to avoid failing the application. This streamlined self-assessment option doesn't include additional support, making it ideal for organisations confident in their cybersecurity knowledge and implementation.
Cyber Essentials Plus
DarkKnight offers Cyber Essentials Plus, an enhanced certification that builds upon the self-assessment. This advanced option includes a comprehensive audit of your IT infrastructure by our expert assessors. To qualify, organisations must have completed the Cyber Essentials self-assessment within the past three months.
Key components of the Cyber Essentials Plus audit:
- Sampling and configuration verification of your computers
- Vulnerability scanning of selected machines
- External port scan of internet-facing IP addresses
- Email and browser security testing
- Evidence collection via screenshots
This thorough evaluation confirms that your declared controls are effectively implemented across your network. Successful certification allows you to publicly demonstrate your commitment to robust cybersecurity standards.
The process includes:
- Self-assessment via our online portal
- Remote audit by a skilled assessor
- 30-day remediation period for any identified issues
- Phone and email support (48-hour response time)
Upon passing, you'll receive a 12-month valid certificate and the option to be listed as a Cyber Essentials certified company.
Assisted Cyber Essentials
Some of the Cyber Essentials self-assessment and Cyber essentials Plus remediation questions can be both difficult to understand and difficult to impliment if you do not have a technical IT background or you have a complex company structure.
